Understanding Horses From the Ground Up

Horsemanship Clinics

Understanding how to communicate with your horse is at the foundation of our clinics.  We offer several types of clinics including: colt starting, desensitization, Mounted Patrol, advanced skill development, trail riding preparations,  and a week backcountry trip clinic in the remote wilderness.

Horse Sales and Breeding

We strive to develop horses with correct conformation, strong structure for longevity and a quiet, willing mind.  Our breeding program allows us to have foals raised from the ground up with correct training at each step of their development.

Training and Lessons

Occasionally a horse needs help getting through difficult challenges.  On limited availability, horses come to stay for riding and training.  Likewise, lessons helping a rider with individual skills may be needed before a horse and rider can work together. We love to share our expert knowledge and hold no secretes.

ABOUT US

Horses have been a central part of the Ostrom family for decades.  Riding, breeding, training and teaching have been second nature to this family as their commitment to agriculture and community service define their family values.  The family has received awards for their long-term commitment to agriculture by actively leading in 4H, FFA, local equine clubs, state and national equine organizations, as well as started the DANO youth camp to give the opportunity to kids in the community to learn to explore and understand the rugged wilderness of Wyoming.  From Ron's father running mustangs in Nevada and starting the Nevada Cow Horse Futurity, his mother grew up on a dairy near Reno, the family has been involved with horses and cattle for generations.  Ron continues to expand his commitment to helping people learn and understand horses through clinics, lessons and building the type of horses so many people have come to enjoy. The third generation of Ostrom's carries on the tradition with Ron's two daughters continuing the family legacy, Kendra and her husband Brandon as outfitters on the Bridger Teton National Forest and Trista as chief of staff to the First Lady of Wyoming and sitting on the state 4H board.  The commitment to agriculture, the wilderness and helping people understand horses is strong.  We look forward to sharing our long-term commitment with you.
